MYS BLUES 10 NORTH BERWICK INTER 1; MYS BLACKS 5 NORTH BERWICK 1
Black stripes had their game at Tranent Juniors mysteriously called off on Friday night - although the under-9s went ahead and played on the same pitch!
At such late notice and with a decent weather forecast, Dave put in many, many phone calls trying to arrange a new game, with no luck - but the blues kindly agreed to let the blacks join their game with North Berwick Inter.
As a few players were off to the Hibs game (another early Easter Road kick-off playing havoc with our plans!), the blues played three straight games. Despite the absence of Aaran Currie and Euan Fraser, who were both excellent last week, they pulverised North Berwick (helped a bit by the traditional strong Wallyford wind) and created more than a dozen chances in the first 12 and a half minute period. Blair Millar scored twice, the second a beautiful curling finish into the corner and Dylan, Matthew, Lewis and Liam all scored once - I'm sure they got seven altogether, but can't remember who got the last one!
After a tight 0-0 with the black stripes, the blues then won the second period with North Berwick 3-1, with Lewis, Liam and Blair each scoring a goal.
The blacks then played North Berwick and won their first game 3-0, with a Cammy Brown curler, a goal for a delighted Blair Currie after Lloyd hit the post (again!) and then, finally, a well-deserved goal for Lloyd after a strong run. In the second period, North Berwick went ahead, but Paul scored a good equaliser, then saw his cross diverted in by a NB defender for an own goal.
