Pencaitland 0 -v- MYS Blue Stripes 15
A somewhat one sided and pointless affair against a Pencaitland side who showed little improvement from last season. Despite Pencaitland playing with 10 men they never really threatened our goal and, but for some poor finishing, the scoreline would have been greater. Some credit must go to our boys though for taking on board the coaches pre-match instructions not to use the game as a shooting excercise and they passed it around well at times. Goals came from Debutant Josh, Arran C, Blair, Liam and Euan.

BLACKS EDGED OUT IN A GREAT GAME, 26-04-08
MYS BLACKS 2 NORTH BERWICK AC 3
It's always disappointing to lose but this was one of those cracking games that leaves you upbeat no matter what the final result.
Two well-matched teams played some lovely football and competed for every ball throughout the three 20-minute periods.
North Berwick were very well-organised and had the better of the first period. They took the lead when their star player followed up a rebound to calmly sweep the ball home. But Youngstars hit back immediately as Cammy Brown played a neat ball to Seth, who hammered a shot high into the net from a tight angle.
It was 1-1 after 20 minutes, but North Berwick took control with two goals in quick succession early in the second period. Again, Youngstars didn't let their heads drop and Cammy Brown played in a lovely corner to Lloyd in space on the edge of the box. He looked up and smacked a great shot high into the top corner.
It was 3-2 going into the last 20 and both sides had more chances as the game opened up. Seth had a close-range volley saved and the North Berwick keeper saved well from Callum. The visitors could have stretched their lead when a curling left-footer hit the outside of the post, but Youngstars had chances to draw level, with Cammy Brown having a low shot well-saved near the end.
Jack got the player of the week award for great defending, a brilliant never-say-die attitude and some marauding runs forward - but all the team deserved credit. Poor Connor had to go home early after hurting his back.

Blue Stripes stroll to victory 19-04-2008
Aberlady Colts 1 -v- 12 MYS Blue Stripes
A somewhat one sided affair although a combination of poor finishing, bad luck and good goalkeeping by the Aberlady keeper kept the scoreline down to 4 - 1 at half time. The boys got more into their stride in the second half though finding the net 8 times to run out comfortable winners. The Aberlady second string didn't pose us to many problems although their keeper deserves praise for a good perfomance and not letting his head go down. Goals were supplied by Aarran Currie, Euan, Blair and Liam.

GOOD RUN AT DUNBAR CONTINUES 19-04-08
DUNBAR 2 MYS BLACK STRIPES 3
The Black Stripes had two good wins at Dunbar last season and continued this run with a great result.
Youngstars made a slow start to the game and struggled to compete, with Dunbar picking up most of the 50-50 balls. The home team broke away to go ahead with a close-range effort but with almost our first attack, Seth equalised with a great finish into the corner. Although Dunbar were still having more possession, Youngstars then went ahead when Paul side-footed coolly into the top corner.
Paul almost made it 3-1 in the second of two 25-minute periods after a lovely move and Blair hit a powerful shot over after more nice team-play, but Youngstars did get some breathing space when Lloyd hit a crisp, low shot into the corner of the net. He had to come off soon after but Jason, Callum and Cammy Brown held things together well in the middle of the park.
Seth could have put the game beyond Dunbar's reach but their keeper made a good save from his volley and then he turned a defender well but put the ball narrowly wide of the far post. David made a couple of good saves as Dunbar fought back, but with Connor and Jack under increasing pressure at the back, the home side sneaked a scrappy goal back - yet Youngstars held on for a really good win.

GREAT DISPLAY BY BLUES, 12-04-08
MYS Blue Stripes 9 -v- 3 Haddington
Another fine performance from the boys to record yet another comfortable victory with goals from Aarran C (4), Aarron O, Matthew, Lewis, Euan and Liam.
We did start a bit slowly though and found ourselves 1 down, albeit against the run of play. The boys stuck to their task however and a fairly even first half ended 3-3.
The second half was a one sided afair with YoungStars stepping up a gear and overwhelming the visitors. MOTM was given to Dylan for a solid defensive display with Lewis a close runner up with his tireless wing play. Matthew also had a fine game which was capped with a rare top corner finish!

SETH SCORES INTER HIS OWN NET 12-04-08
MYS BLACKS 11 NORTH BERWICK INTER 1
This scoreline wasn't anything like as comfortable as it looks - certainly for the first half-hour. In the first of three 20-minute periods, Lloyd gave Youngstars an early lead as his shot squirmed under the keeper, but despite lots more chances, we found it hard to break through. Soon before the break, Paul made it two but then a mix-up between Seth and David saw Seth's back pass sneak over the line to make it 2-1. Seth almost made amends straight away after a good cross from Blair but the keeper blocked his close-range shot.
Again, we struggled at the start of the second period before Cammy Brown gave us a cushion with two neat finishes, the second one perfectly placed in the corner after a fine run and cross from Jason. Seth then made amends with a strong run and shot into the corner from the edge of the box. Callum made it 6-1 just before the second break and we mixed the team around for the last 20, with Lloyd going in goal.
David came out and made it 7-1 with a lovely curling shot. Paul added No 8 and David scored again to make in No 9. Cammy Dunlop, who was pushed up front, went close on 3 or 4 occasions but couldn't quite find a way past the keeper. With Jack and Connor solid at the back, Lloyd had a very quiet time in goal as Callum added a 1oth, then saw his cross deflected in by an unlucky defender. Youngstars played some cracking football once they got into their stride and deserved a big win - ahead of a very tough game at Dunbar next week.
