MYS BLACKS 11 NORTH BERWICK INTER 1
This scoreline wasn't anything like as comfortable as it looks - certainly for the first half-hour. In the first of three 20-minute periods, Lloyd gave Youngstars an early lead as his shot squirmed under the keeper, but despite lots more chances, we found it hard to break through. Soon before the break, Paul made it two but then a mix-up between Seth and David saw Seth's back pass sneak over the line to make it 2-1. Seth almost made amends straight away after a good cross from Blair but the keeper blocked his close-range shot.
Again, we struggled at the start of the second period before Cammy Brown gave us a cushion with two neat finishes, the second one perfectly placed in the corner after a fine run and cross from Jason. Seth then made amends with a strong run and shot into the corner from the edge of the box. Callum made it 6-1 just before the second break and we mixed the team around for the last 20, with Lloyd going in goal.
David came out and made it 7-1 with a lovely curling shot. Paul added No 8 and David scored again to make in No 9. Cammy Dunlop, who was pushed up front, went close on 3 or 4 occasions but couldn't quite find a way past the keeper. With Jack and Connor solid at the back, Lloyd had a very quiet time in goal as Callum added a 1oth, then saw his cross deflected in by an unlucky defender. Youngstars played some cracking football once they got into their stride and deserved a big win - ahead of a very tough game at Dunbar next week.
